Gabby Dizon, X Hall of Flame: Why I don’t chase narratives

Gabby Dizon, co-founder and CEO of Yield Guild Games, is paving the way in the blockchain gaming world. Back in 2017, he started “tinkering” with Ethereum and smart contracts, which led him to become an early innovator in the industry.
At the YGG Play Summit in the Philippines, Dizon shared his perspective on not chasing narratives in the crypto world. While others are caught up in the whirlwind of changing trends, Dizon focuses on building and having conviction in the Web3 gaming industry. He believes that when the spotlight inevitably shines back on Web3 gaming, being prepared is key.
Yield Guild Games, a decentralized autonomous organization, was established in 2021 to help players worldwide earn rewards in play-to-earn games. Dizon, with a background in traditional gaming, transitioned to blockchain gaming after dipping his toes into Ethereum and NFTs.
His journey to fame on X began when he started sharing content about NFTs in 2018. As interest in NFTs and Web3 gaming grew, so did his following on social media. Now with over 137,800 followers, Dizon keeps his content focused on market insights, game support, and occasional hints about his son’s interest in crypto.
Looking ahead, Dizon predicts a bullish future for gaming in the crypto market. He anticipates that games with over a million monthly players will become more common, marking a significant shift in the industry. With the crypto space expanding rapidly, Dizon emphasizes the need for specialization and focus to navigate this evolving landscape.
